All Hail Emilie Autumn and The Bloody Crumpets!
Yesterday, February 12th 2011, a lifechanging, unbelievable experience happened, I went to go see the beautiful, amazing, and slightly freaky Emilie Autumn and her dance band called The Bloody Crumpets at The Arts At The Armory in Somerville MA. I came with my boyfriend Adam and there were so many people with victorian style dresses and costumes, which made me regret that I didn't wear my black Misa dress from Hot Topic. The venue was small, but with a very open space and nice wooden floors. On the next floor, looking down at the stage were nice tables and chairs. There was a table of merchandise and I had money so I bought a choker with a keyhole locket on it (which had an interesting picture of Naughty Veronica in it, but I took it out), and one of the Blessed Contessa's feather hair bows and bow ties. There was no seats where Adam and I were so we stood. We had a little bit of a problem seeing the stage because there were many tall people in front of us and people with funny hats, and both but all in all, the concert was breathtaking. The idea of having the introduction behind the clock and seeing their silhouettes was so cool! The starting song was "4:00" and it is indeed a very catchy tune that got everyone moving about and cheering as Captain Maggots, Naughty Veronica, The Blessed Contessa and Emilie Autumn were dancing to the beat. What I thought was interesting was that they spit out tea into the audience and eventually, Contessa started eating a ton of cookies and spit them out all over the audience! With a rat mask on, Emilie Autumn sang "Opheliac" and began playing the piano... is there anything she can't do?! Unlike many artists of today, she can SING, and very well indeed. The songs that she played included "Liar", "I want My Innocence Back", "Thank God I'm Pretty", "Mad Girl", "306" and so on. She rocked with the electric violin solos, and like she said, "Violin is the new guitar." There was a lot of humor in the concert including Captain Maggots teasing Emilie Autumn with the star and moon, Veronica pretending to be embarrassed that "someone was undressing her with her eyes" and when she claimed that a girl in the audience did it while Emilie Autumn comforted her, I blurted out "No, it was me!" and Veronica actually glared at me lol. It was also Veronica's dad's birthday, so Emilie played a song on her violin that she had never played before. More songs that she sang were "God Help Me", "Dead is the New Alive", in which she climbed on top of that clock prop in the middle of the stage, "What if", which was the song that she haven't sang in 10 years, and a stunning cover of "Bohemian Rhapsody" by the legendary band, Queen. Overall, the concert was like an amazing dream come true and I got so many pictures and videos from it, even though I got caught twice filming it and I was told to put it away, but I still kept taking pictures and recording more of the concert, because I am boss. I came home shocked in the best way and in disbelief that I witnessed the amazingness of Emilie Autumn and The Bloody Crumpets!
